Press Release – March 31, 2012

Marquette, MI– CelebrityGolf.com joins BACCO Construction and MJ Electric as top sponsors of the 2012 Upper Peninsula Celebrity Golf Classic (UPCGC). The Mariucci Family Foundation is returning as the presenting sponsor of the celebrity tournament with NFL Network Host and Analyst Steve Mariucci taking an active role in its development. The 2012 UPCGC tournament, scheduled for June 27 & 28, is expected to be double the size of the 2011 inaugural fundraiser that benefits Upper Michigan’s Beacon House. The launch party to match celebrities with sponsored golf teams will be held Wednesday evening on the shores of Lake Superior with music, entertainment and gourmet dining at L’Attitude Bistro in downtown Marquette, MI.The Marquette Golf Club will again play host for this spectacular golf event on Thursday, offering both The Heritage course and last year’s venue, Greywalls (the #2 Rated course in Michigan by Golf Week) as the stage for this year’s competition. Two courses will allow 72 teams of amateurs and their celebrities a chance to tee it up and Beacon House director of development, Mary Tavernini Dowling, is busy recruiting. “We are in the process of inviting twice the celebrities as last year so that we have a well known celebrity with each of those teams. We expect to have athletes from the NFL, NBA, MLB, PGA, the Olympics and NASCAR as well as musicians and entertainers from film & television.”Based in Garnerville, Nevada with offices in Loomis California, CelebrityGolf.com chose this Michigan tournament for sponsorship to showcase what they feel is a great new addition to the celebrity golf circuit. Questioned on why an event so far from home Managing Director Geoff Burke answered “Our website is all about celebrity golf, the charities they support and all the fun that goes with it and the UPCGC is a great example of all three. Plus it was created and developed by its benefitting charity. Beacon House should be an inspiration to other non-profits seeking support.” CelebrityGolf.com Artistic Director, Stan Bautista added, “In just their second year the UP Celebrity Classic has doubled in size and the feedback from last year’s celebrities forecasts this event to be a must attend in years to come. As honored as we are to be sponsors, we think this tournament is a winner and we’re getting on board early.”

Beacon House is one of the largest hospitality houses in the nation and has provided over 115,000 guest night stays in their 34 private guest rooms since opening in June 2002. A privately run, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, Beacon House also works in conjunction with the medical care community to ensure patient access to care.
